Background
The Harrisburg Board of Trade was chartered by a decree of the court of Dauphin County in March, 1886. The purpose of the corporation was to encourage and protect the trade and commerce of the city of Harrisburg and its members were progressive business and professional men interested in the general prosperity of the city.
