The collection contains two meteorological journals, 1850-1865 and 1866-1869, kept by Dr. John Heisely with added notes of marriages, deaths, and other local events of interest.
Background
Dr. John N. Heisely opened a drug store at Chestnut and Second Streets, Harrisburg in 1818. He manufactured perfumes as well as operating the drug store. He kept meteorological journals from July 1, 1840 to his death on September 18, 1869.
